It's Time to Build an Ark of Love
There is an historical account found in many cultures throughout the world about a great flood that destroyed much of human civilization. In Christianity it is represented by the story of Noah and the Ark.
I don't often write about my predictions for society as a result of religious and political upheaval, but I am sharing some of my thoughts with you now. You may be shocked by my statements. I am not writing to alarm you, rather to inspire you to be love in action.
Love must be tough at times, and now is one of those times. Because we have much to lose if we don’t prepare for the global flood I see coming in the form of a shift in world power to favor oligarchs, big corporations, CEOs, billionaires, racists, misogynists, and authoritarians. I believe many depraved and misguided members of society, who think they are above the law and that they should rule over us, will be in charge for a period of time. While they are in power we must prepare for rising prices, increased conflicts, food shortages, less access to factual information, and the abuse of ourselves, our friends, and our neighbors.
It’s time to love ourselves and our neighbors by asking: What if Noah had not built the ark?
Our lives will most likely not be turned upside down by a country that invades ours, like Russia did in Ukraine. As victims of an invasion of greed and quests for unlimited power, however, we will experience chaos and further attempts to divide us. We will see a continued war on truth, compassion, respect, and honesty.
Hate, disinformation, and culture wars have become big business for countries and world leaders that want to see us dumbed down and angry at one another and therefore easier to abuse and control. We’re to depend on them for what to believe. We’re told who our enemies should be. We’re told what to think and who to trust by people who have no intention of telling us the truth, protecting us, or leading us to a better future. We’re being pitted against one another by those who have no moral qualms about abusing us to satisfy their insatiable appetite for money, power, and dominance.
I regret we’re not united in saying a hard NO to what doesn’t belong in any civilized society. We’re not all on board with what should be our unifying goal — taking power back from the big corporations, CEOs, billionaires, religious zealots, and the morally corrupt. When Jesus overturned the tables of the tax collectors in the temple because he thought they didn’t belong there, he saw evil and didn’t shy away from making a statement about what didn’t belong.
We must start overturning tables too. We refuse to allow any of the media to pit us against one another with deepfakes, manufactured lies, gossip, slander, bullying, and tearing one another down in futile ways to build ourselves up. We turn the tables on anyone who believes they are above the law. We question the motives of those who make illogical, dishonest, cruel, and divisive statements about anyone for any reason. We care to find out truth and facts. We reject being hand-fed what we are to believe and whom to trust with the future of our children and theirs. We honestly and bravely look at what we are becoming.
We are not powerless. We can stop listening to the division, lies, hate, and manufactured information. We accept that LGBTQ+, immigrants, women, Black and Brown people, etc., are not our enemy. We know the real enemy to be those who are stoking the fires of hatred and division. We don’t have to remain asleep during this blatantly hostile takeover of what we should most value — equality, respect, honesty, cooperation, civility, and justice for all.
It’s time we build a sturdy ark of compassion, truth, friendliness, and support within our communities. We must value safety for ourselves, our families, our neighbors. This will require us to turn off hate, division, and fact-free disinformation and actually listen to one another. When we do, we will discover we are much more alike than different in our desire not to be ruled by those who intend to rule us.
We want to be represented by the best of us, which will require us to be our best, too.
